About us

We are a married couple nearing retirement and  living in Rotorua, New Zealand. We have 2 adult daughters.
After working in the pulp and paper industry for 33 years Ray now works part time as a contract training manual developer.
Our main interests are kite making and flying, contract bridge and travel to overseas kite festivals when we can afford it.

Ray is currently secretary/treasurer of the New Zealand Kitefliers Association (NZKA)

Why kites?

In 1989 our daughters were given a kite which flew very well. Rosemary decided that she would try and make a kite that flew - something she had not been able to do as a child. A box kite and a parafoil were successfully made and flown.

A trip to the USA led to the discovery of some kite shops and the purchase of several kites. On our return we found an Auckland kite shop with a poster on the 1990 Napier International Kite Festival. We attended the festival and found the participants so friendly and helpful that we joined the NZKA and so started our adventure in kiting.

This website was develop using a WYSIWYG program. I am now trying to learn HTML etc and use a more complex program to make an improved website that includes information on festivals and workshops we have attended.
